How does the AI Manga OCR work?
Unlike traditional flat text scanners, Mahiru Studios uses vision-capable AI models (like Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite and Claude 3.5 Sonnet) that analyze page images holistically. It understands panel layouts, reading direction, and automatically tags blocks into Dialogue, Narration, SFX, Side Text, and Other text.
What is the difference between Speed and Pro translation mode?
Speed mode runs quick isolated translation passes per block for fast turnarounds. Pro mode runs a continuous 4-step pipeline (Prep & Story Context -> Chunked Translation -> Story Flow Polish -> Proposed Glossary Extraction) to guarantee chapter-wide character voice and term consistency.
How does the Glossary System maintain term consistency across chapters?
Glossaries are scoped at the series level and use fuzzy string matching to detect names, places, and terms despite OCR typos. Only user-confirmed terms are injected into the AI context during Pro translation, preventing term drift across dozens of chapters.
Can I Bring My Own API Key (BYOK)?
Yes. You can attach your own OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google API keys directly to your series settings. When BYOK is enabled, AI jobs bill directly to your provider account with zero markup.
How does page stitching work?
Page stitching runs entirely inside your web browser using client-side canvas processing. It automatically detects page seams and gutters, lets you adjust split points live, and exports merged strips in PNG, JPEG, or WEBP without ever sending unstitched raw page images to our server.
Are there any monthly subscription fees?
No. Mahiru Studios has $0 monthly subscription fees and $0 per-seat costs. You pay a small flat creation fee per chapter (~$0.45) plus transparent execution credits only when you run AI tasks.
